Definitly!
To learn and train Martial Art with rules is very importan, is part of the learning; But to perfect your fight, rules just make limitations.
Just like Bruce said: " Balance, no too rational, no too intuitive".

So, do you think if you would be a world karate champion, do you really could let an actor to teach you SOME TECNICS Y/O CONCEPTS to be better?
Chuck Norris, Joe lewis, Mike Stone, all of these guys accepted Bruce Lee' guide.
Of course they knew better than you, who was indeed BRUCE LEE!
In fact competition is just that competition, NO REAL THING!!!

Listen up. Read my comment, if you can read. In real ring fights, people get hit, hard. If Bruce Lee had wanted to be a fighter, he certainly could have made that choice. As I said, WE ALL LOVE HIM. He knew a lot about fighting, but he NEVER got in the ring. If you think getting in the ring with a skilled opponent full-contact is nothing you have never done it.

I think you aren't understanding that context of my words. Full Contact or any SPORT FIGHTING (or whatever you want to call it) has RULES, has referee, has a specif place (conditioned to the tournament), etc, etc.
Bruce trained and used the concept of FIGHT as universal as this was possible. His mind never stopped with any specific style or way.
Just he wanted to be THE GREATEST, THE BEST FIGHTER ON THE WORLD, and indeed HE WAS!

AMER1C0,
Forgive me if we've have gotten crossed up. Bruce may have been the best fighter ever on plant earth, I don't know. I don't have a problem with that conceptually, but factually, he wasn't a fighter. He didn't have a fight record, there are no videos of fights (just movies), and so on... If he had wanted to be a fighter, that was an option, but he was a movie star by choice and not a fighter. Perhaps and arguably very capable of fighting, but he chose not to fight, but to act.

"The Art of fight without fight" (Jet Kune Do); This concept is too deep and show how complex is to be a real MARTIAL ARTIST. Could be a philosophy without martial arts, but no a martial art without philosophy; I mean, If your concept of "FIGHTER" just end in the physic contact, maybe you right; however the greatest masters used to say that: "The best fighter is that one who can win a battle without fight and a discussing without words".

So, you should wonder your self: Why nobody wanted to challenge Bruce in live?

Joe Lewis is great but he was only a student of Bruce Lee.

A typical analysis by a geek who has no experience in fighting. When you are truly a fighter, you'll eventually face someone with fast punches and kicks. The thing is you don't have to solely rely on your blocking. You just simple move out of the range to avoid the follow-up punches and/or kicks.
