Funny how people think Honda is king. Please that's so 10 years ago. My 04 mazda 6i is fun to drive up the Santa Cruz mountains. As a motor trend and car and driver reader Honda is always in second to last place, they have fallen of. If any thing hyundai is doing big things.
I haven't driven the new Mazda6 but I have the '08 Mazda6 and its handling is precise and accurate. I've driven the new Accord a few days ago part of the way to and from Las Vegas from L.A. and I have to say, I still like my Mazda better. Although I didn't push it too hard, the engine in the Accord did feel like it had more potential. Still, I didn't feel that sense of connection to the road that I did with my Mazda. I guess you can call it bias but the 6 seems more fun to me. :P
for drivability HOnda is king. Hondas are always the best for fun, agile, and easy to drive. The best FF handling cars out there. Hondas are not the fastest or strongset but the funnest to drive. In this class with all the mid-sized cars the accord is the fastest in it's price range.
For 4-cylinders, I think the two best are the Accord, and among more premium trim levels, the Malibu LTZ. Steller sedans.
Among V-6s, there's a lot of good players. The Accord and Malibu are great, and so are the Camry SE V-6, Fusion Sport V-6, and 6s .. maybe even the Altima.
For I-4s, I'd take the Accord or Malibu as I said. For V-6s, I really like all the ones I mentioned, but I might head for the Accord again, and throw on the Mugen grille and wheels (sporty it up a bit, not ricey).
