  • Please elaborate. Saying Paul looked forward to walking in newness of life, as though it wa snot available to him in his day, seems to say you believe no one could experience that before "the Parousia". Are you saying it was true only for the firstfruits but no other believers in that era? I do not want to misrepresent your view.

  • Because you said preterist think the "newness of life was not available until ad 70". Which is generally true, but it mischaracterizes my view.

  • What would that matter, though?

  • That does not change the fact that Paul told the Galatians to walk after the Spirit, which is walking in newness of life. The reason convenants enter into the picture was of course due to the Galatian error of mingling Judaism in the church. Utilizing law is associated with exerting will power of the flesh in order to do good. And that is why walking after the flesh is referring to living by a codebook, whether it is the Law or any codebook of rulekeeping. It is Spirit vs. flesh.

  • Galatians 5's context is all about covenantal themes, Mike!

  • The firstfruits were raised before "ad 70".
