  • @SmurfDrums310 Thanks so much SD! I might be doing some clinics in January following the NAMM show in Anaheim area.

  • Leave it to Bob Gatzen to have one of the best sounding kits in the league

  • @ryrypaulz BIG thanks ryry... appreciate it more than you know

  • Thanks so much tassos! DW makes a nice mid line drum under the "PDP" line. Better yet ... try looking for a "used" but not abused high end kit ". Happy hunting...let me know how you make out

    Bob

  • Hi Bob, any thoughts about the Kick Port ? Also, I am trying to find info on tuning for large bass drums. I have a 28 and 30 inch bass, hoping to build a 1930s style kit with these! Thanks for your great work!

  • @Helmholtz53 The Kickport has a great reputation! However, not my cup of tea. I embrace simplicity. My first choice is the Evans reso heads. Small, light weight but very effective and adjustable.

  • Hi Bob, I posted on this thread about 3 years ago regarding the use of same thickness heads on my Toms and what kind of results to expect, as you predicted the tuning pockets were very narrow and specific.

In the last 2 years having built my own studio and written/recorded my own album I've had the chance to come up with the best combination for my drums, coated emperors on top/coated ambassadors on bottom.

Thanks for all of your Dvd advice, check out the results at knownlifeblood.bandcamp.com

  • Bob, Do not be afraid to hit the drums,

Its ok to play at a volume over Mezzo Forte.

....Really, I don't think they will break if you really hit them.
