  • Song Richard & Emma?

  • @loba1976 Richard and Emma dance to Black And White Thunderbird by The Delicates. Actually Denise Ferri, one of the three members of The Delicates (who both wrote and and recorded this song in 1959) has seen this clip, and she enjoyed watching Richard and Emma dance to their song. :)

  • Song Magnus & Anita?

  • @loba1976 Magnus and Anita dance to This Little Girl's Gone Rockin' by Janice Peters

  • @damnation333 There are several Swing dances that use this 6 count pattern with triple steps, including Jive, West Coast Swing, Boogie Woogie and Lindy Hop.

The three latter also use 8 count patterns - I don't know if this is also true for Jive.

  • @ingeharkestad

Thank you for the clarification! Very helpful!

but is step, step, triple step, triple step not Jive?

  • @damnation333 Boogie Woogie uses triple steps. The most basic pattern is "step step, triple step, triple step" - that is 8 steps for every 6 counts. Often you will see couples doing a variation called "kick ball change" instead of "step step", adding even more footwork.

What you've learned I would call Single Step Swing or East Coast Swing. Substitute the single steps with three steps - and feel free to move forward on the first step - and you'll be well on your way to dancing Boogie Woogie. :)

  • Can someone explain this to me: I learned "Boogie Woogie" in an Austrian dance school. Rockstep, step, step. That was it. Now this stuff in ALL videos here on youtube does not look like what I've learned. There are way more steps involved in this stuff here.

Anybody got a clue what is what?! Thanks.
