Sixty years ago, a court case changed the course of U.S. public education, paving the way for diversity and equality in classrooms: Brown vs. Board of Education. UW President Michael K. Young served on the national commission that commemorated the 50th anniversary of the case in 2004. Today, he reflects on how the landmark ruling transformed public education — and opened doors for generations of young people.
