Patrick Leahy is useless. Vermonters please defeat this man in 2010. CONGRESS makes the law. Couldn't have been sent ANYWHERE if this man hadn't alllowed it and you can see this on Gonz face. He's thinking what a joke Leahy is. What's happened??? NOTHING. What's Leahy's bill number????

Leahy his one of the most powerful in Washington and what has happen to Gonzelez? NOTHING. Torture was authorized by Congress if not in law then by "looking" the other way. Congress makes the laws. Leahy is useless.

Obviously the Syrians should be condemned for torture, but the obvious question for me is: why on earth is our government sending "suspected terrorists" to Syria? I thought Syria was a sponsor of terrorism. I thought Bush refuses to talk to them because of this. What's going on here? This looks to me like "arms for hostages" all over again-the gov. says one thing, does exactly the opposite.

Leahy is right but why is there no talk by Gonzalez and the Canadians that SYRIA was the one that tortured him and maybe our government's should put more pressure on them to treat prisoners better?

Gonzales is smirking because he knows that Bush/Cheney simply don't care what Congress or the public think. They couldn't care less if a million person march was held in DC every day. Bush said it himself: if only his dog supported him, he'd stay in Iraq. Americans and our elected leaders be damned, they'll do whatever they want until the day they are removed. The only thing they understand is force.
