East New York Manhole Explosion 10-9-08

This was the scene on the corner of Sutter Avenue and Ecluid in Brooklyns East New York section today after a massive manhole explosion. Two Consolidated Edison Utility workers Craig Penney and George Dillman were splicing cables early this afternoon when they were trapped in the blast. Penney a Queens resident survived the blast and was rushed to nearby Brook dale hospital in critical condition with severe burns to his body. Dillman remained trapped in the Manhole and ultimately Sercombe to his injuries before he could be rescued. Residents recalled the scene. ______________________________.

Although the cause of the blast still isnt clear district 42 City Council Charles Barron rushed to the scene and cited heavy construction and called for a complete investigation ________________________________________________________________________________­____.
Other Residents tell CLMNEWS that this wasnt the first incident of the sort this year.
The FDNY wasnt able to comment on that but they did offer assurances to the neighborhood that they were doing everything they could to prevent poison gases from seeping into the air.

actually wrong it does not matter how you have you work zone traffic set up drivers never even pay attention to it and is the tripod migically going to get hooked to me wile the cable is faulting no its not someone has to go hook it up to them im sure those boys were doing EVRYTHING they could do at the time god rest his sole my prayers go out to george's family

well u dont necesary hae to be conected to the harness but you can have it there as a secondary safety mode scape.. and you dont have to worry about a car running over the tripod if you have proper traffic set up rigth?

Yes there's a gas machine in the hole for constant monitoring, when you work in the streets you NEVER stay connected to the tripod incase a car comes through the set up and takes it along with you . . .
