I also thought of "Tool" when I listen to some songs of PJ Harvey. And since she is the earlier one ... She's really amazing! My new favourite - I found her when I search for some songs from Nick Cave.

I love how PJ's voice goes from soft and feminine to raw and unapologetic and then back again without warning. This picture of her is beyond words.
