My one week old, tropical freshwater aquarium. I currently have a showa swordtail, black swordtail, red swordtail, keyhole cichlid, and a corydoras catfish. All small now. I eventually will add six green tiger barbs, five more corydoras catfish, two dwarf gouramis and a kuhli loach (maybe).

  • Sorry about the "books" I wrote below (you should read it from bottom up to make sense), I write WAAAY too much and hope you don't mind :) Feel free to email me at cherryfox22@yahoo.com with any questions about fishys if you want, I'd be more than happy to help, again, love the tank! :D

    ~Happy fish keeping!!

  • Well actually reading a bit more, swordtails and tiger barbs might be okay, but I wouldn't mix a male swordtail with them. A school of tetras would look nice, or a school of cherry barbs (still a barb, their cute, but they don't nip) And by school I mean six :)

I hope I don't sound like an ass, I'm just a total fish nerd who spends her life reading up on fish, and I'm only 18! :p I too have a 29 gallon that I am restarting, I love the look of your tank and might copy it if that's okay. :)

  • And yay for going to get more cories, they need to be in a school of 6 as well :) You could do the two dwarf gouramis (I can't pronounce that word either, or cichlid :) but I wouldn't advise tiger barbs, they may be too nippy with the gouramis. I don't know for sure though, never had either but I'd research it first. As for kuhli loach, they need to be kept in a school of 6 as well, and given that you already have the cories, I wouldn't advise it,plus they prefer sand.

  • YAY FOR BOWLS ARE INHUMANE!! Beautiful fish and tank! And yes you are correct, the orange and black swordtail is the showa (named after a species of koi) and I think you have all females, which is good. I'd google sexing swordtail and see if you have all girls, if you have all males, that's not good, if you only have girls, then I'd get two more cause they are happiest in a group of 5.
