I am currently working on diagonal implementations of EATS. Here I show that diagonal roads seem to be stable for long distances with the restraining block as far as possible from the center of the path of travel as possible. I use half blocks because you can't suffocate under them. The transition from straight to diagonal is very sensitive to speed and also whether or not there is a rider present. The design of the road seems to help fix slight misalignment issues by pushing the boat back towards the middle.

  • Suggestion: Replace the dirt with soul sand, that would allow you to more safely disembark and would work better if you wanted to integrate the diagonal system into the straight system rather than having them be two different things.

The dirt at the end was temporary, I just kept shooting into the ocean and wanted to prevent that from happening. I do want to have seamless integration with straight EATS but haven't worked on this that much recently. Soul sand is a good idea though if full speed transitions prove too hard to work out

  • Nice bro thats really good!

I had to install those two dirt blocks at the end of the road to stop the boat from getting launched into the ocean in the background. I do hope to have designs for elevation changes eventually. The goal is to have all the functionality of the straight EATS system in a diagonal implementation.

  • @Smapla Well i find it very cool :P id like to eventually see something extremely complicated XD maybe involving a waterfall and extreme speeds launching you off into the distance XD

  • @sandro116

That is one approach I'm working on, though obviously having to slow down the boat is a drawback. The other side of this road is actually where I'm working on it. Some implementations of EATS do require slowdowns for things like switching which side the boat is on, but I hope to avoid that. I'd rather have a reliable design for going from straight at max speed to diagonal at max speed, which is what I've done here (though it's rather bulky.

  • @Smapla What you should do is make a huge section to slow ur boat down and then once it is slowed down you make a turn.

  • @sandro116

I really wish I could. It's very difficult to get it centered (or rather slightly off-centered) correctly and reliably. The speed the boat is traveling at when entering the transition greatly effects it.

  • Awsome dude :D you should make it loop back around now!
