Charming. Simple, low production values, but pithy. Says everything that needs to be said about this regime in a few words, using some of America's ugliest faces.
It hardly took an army, back when this is exactly what was done. In the mid 1800's, government stepped in to PROTECT polluters, rationalized that prosecuting pollution was "retarding business".
The idea is covered well in two books, "The Market For Liberty", available as a free audiobook on FreeKeen.c om and "For A New Liberty" by Rothbard, online in audiobook, PDF or text at Mises.o rg
"Without regulation, pollution could be prosecuted 100%, as trespassing. That's why big businesses lobby FOR regulation. To prevent liability and competition."
Sure I understand that and I agree with you. So your solution is an army of trial lawyers suing every business for pollution? Prosecute it 100% as trespassing.
I personally have had my property polluted by a big business. Any lawyers you suggest?
Regulations prevent competition, protecting old, polluting and inefficient companies so they can continue making money.
New, clean, efficient processes would take over the market, if the vested interests didn't have government in their pockets. Like electric cars, which because of government standards have to be loaded with crap that Detroit wants and protects them and their gas-guzzling ancient designs.
"conservative Republicans/Libertarians generally mean "regulation" is prevent rich people from polluting the water"
Really, you don't understand. Regulations define pollution as OK, lobbied for by rich people so they don't have to clean up their factories.
Without regulation, pollution could be prosecuted 100%, as trespassing. That's why big businesses lobby FOR regulation. To prevent liability and competition.
"Every anti-big-government person, minarchist to anarchist, constantly works to remove the regulations that keep people poor."
Wait a minute ... are you telling me that the Glass Steagall Act s what kept poor people poor, and repealing it in the 90s was a good idea?
What do you mean "regulation" - conservative Republicans/Libertarians generally mean "regulation" is prevent rich people from polluting the water - is that what you mean?
"One side hates the poor and thinks it is moral to exploit them"
The thing is, I have never met anyone like this that wasn't a big government Dem or Rep. Every anti-big-government person, minarchist to anarchist, constantly works to remove the regulations that keep people poor. They're generally not wealthy either, because they don't play the government crony politics games.
Liberty means everyone. The rich benefit from having a powerful, intrusive state because the become part of it.
Haven't read it but familiar with the theory and agree. Hamilton was literally a servant of the European wealthy.
There is a very clear dividing line in the "libertarian" movement in the broad sense to include anarcho-whatevers and modern laissez-faires One side hates the poor and thinks it is moral to exploit them, and the other side wants the poor to prosper. This is the core moral distinction between the two sides. "Randroid" is my knee-jerk so sorry if that's not you.
