you don't have to bisque fire for functional ware all pots were originally fired only once if you want a bare body to be waterproof fire to vitrification, stoneware bisque 1000 earthen ware to 1140 bone china to 1260 the reason to bisque is its safer for the pieces they wont melt or bubble if you get the glazing wrong as can happen with once fired dry glazing explosions etc on other pieces etc, you fire to porosity to make glazing easier but its not necessary bone china is vit

Yes, you have to fire the piece before it can be used functionally; otherwise, it won't hold up when liquids are placed inside it.

do u have to fire those to drink out of them? cuz im 13 and want to get a wheel and kiln but they are very expensive and my family cant afford both.
