Lamaism is a branch of Buddhism. It is mainly practised by Chinese Tibetans and Mingolians. Lama in Tibetan language means "supreme wise person" Lamaism is a combinaton of Buddhism and local religions It is generally divided into Gelu sect, Ningma sect, Geju sect and Shajia sect. Its temple is also called lamasery. A lamasery is a treasure house for its architectual splendor. strorage of musical instruments, sculpture, wall paintings and library.
