This video demonstrates the Item Prediction/Spy capability after thorough examination of the mario kart wii application source code. Whenever I press "A" and D-pad left the application would sample the state of Shock, Blue Shell and Bullet Bill items. Key:
0000000f = Items are not being sampled (not pressing A+D-pad Left)
00000000 = Item is held.
00000001 = Item is not held.
