My first documentary, "Eating Out" concerns the life of freegans, anti-consumers who live based upon alternate methods of consuming resources so as to stray away from social norms that include materialism, conformity, and greed. A big part of freeganism is dumpster diving, and eating out of the trash, which has cast a pall on the freegan lifestyle amongst the rest of society.
In order to better understand the lives of freegans, Leo Oliveira decides to become one for a week, eating solely from the trash. The film chronicles his 7 day journey, and is an absurd study of an anti-consumeristic ethic about eating.
I am aware I don't own Sesame Street or the songs I used.
I really admire Freegans. I have picked the trash for stuff like furniture, etc, but I don't think I could eat food out of a dumpster. Not knocking you for doing it though. It's just a personal thing for me. But I also salute you for doing this. Who knows, if I could get over my squeamishness, I might try it one day. I love the concept of not wasting valuable resources. :))
