@SayNoToTheism maoris are a different story. maori history should not be included in any colonial oppression talks. in no other european colony have the natives been offered a treaty, like what happened here, our land. im a white kiwi, somewhat biased, but not racist. the british antagonised the existing state of tribal relations for their benefit, sure maori were at war with each other prior to colonisation, but we used that as a tool to divide them, for our gain, a very tactful ploy...

@mymarkis666 The Dutch settlers didn't just randomly start murdering natives, they were mostly there to escape from the British, they were there for their freedom to farm. The Bantu began burning their farms and murdering the white farmers. Honestly, don;t you read history?

Look at New Zealand history where I live, the Maoris started the Maori wars and all the while they were kidnapping men and women, raping and eating them. Were the British supposed to just pack up and leave?

There's a huge difference between invasion and colonization, D-Day was an invasion, settlers coming to an uninhabited land where no nation state has never made any claim is called colonization. Colonization involves nothing more than uninhabited land being colonized by people from the host nation. New Zealand was not invaded, it was colonized and the rest of the land claimed after the Maoris killed and ate thousands of white settlers.
