What I'm doing is attracting the dog's emotion by facing it which "knocks" it off balance, and then by moving side to side and in and out this intensifies the emotion of attraction. As the dog becomes attracted it will want to jump up on me. Then I'm using the food to "collect" it and channel that energy into heeling. This way the emotion of attraction becomes a drive manner of orientation.
