Is Smallville coming back for Season 9?

Smallville just flew to a season's end, and we can't let the show wrap-up without a quick review and deets on the future of the show.

Season-8 set-up Clark Kent right where he should be... that's spending more time in the city of Metropolis working at the the Daily Planet, in order to ultimately fully realize his calling as a superhero. Clark Kent AKA Superman is greeted by several recognized characters from the iconic comic, including Plastique, Maxima, as well as Doomsday, who is the only person with the ability to kill Superman.

Along with the introduction of new characters in the current season, comes the good-bye to some of the show's established characters... some players who have been with the production since its 2001 start. Lex Luthor who's Clark Kent's best-friend turned worst-enemy is OUT in addition to Martha Kent and Lana Lang. The Smallville creator has been quoted as saying that the show might try to bring back Lex in season-9, at least in some part-time capacity. However, the big problem with Smallville is that as more actors leave the show - whether its due to contractual obligations or personal reasons - it makes it more difficult for writers to supply a logical plotline. Fans are hoping that since at least the main actor for Superman is still attached to the series, that Smallville will indeed live on.

Fans are also saying that the popular show will likely be back next season without a problem, especially because the CW needs the show and the high ratings that come along with it. In fact, some viewers have said the network would be nothing without Smallville and that the Superman saga is the only sci-fi, fantasy program to fare well with the CW tv audience.

Smallville was SO BORING before Season 7. I tried but could never get into it and now I know why. Starting with Season 7 it stopped being Smallville and became a different show. Same actors but the focus was different and it barely ever featured Smallville. They should have just renamed it Metropolis since right now he does EVERYTHING Superman does besides fly and wear the classic costume ((But even then he has several costumes as of now on the show) and is predominantly in Metropolis now.
