  • Beautiful! i would have a 3.0s over a 2.8i anyday. On paper, the 2.8i cologne develops more BHP,but this Engine is all about Torque, which is more important anyway. And as others have said, the Essex is far more tunable than the Cologne.

  • I don't care what they say, you can't beat the Essex 3.0. The loveliest engine Ford ever fitted to the Capri. Lovely video mate, look after her...

  • I had a Ford Transit coachbuilt ambulance with a 3 litre Essex fitted. Wow. At 117 mph you could see the fuel gauge going down...

  • Sounds like a true european car. My dad used to own a 77 Mercury Capri Ghia a while ago until my mom got into a car wreck. My dad replaced the horrible Variable-venturi carburetor and installed installed a 2 barrel carb from a 351 Windsor. He said is ran great and had a lot more power.

  • Love this 3.0 S wish i had one

  • With a lump of (what I would presume to be) cast iron that big I wouldn't be suprised. Even though it isnt as fast as the 2.8i Cologne V6, I do believe they do produce more torque or BHP. If I remember rightly. I'm no expert in mechanics but what engine of the Capri range would you think would suit a rookie?
