  • Yes it's a rock climbing wall. The tall one is for climbing, the shorter one is for bouldering.

  • About the rock climbing wall. Can anyone use it? Will we have to sign up and things like that?

  • It will be available to all VCU students and rec sports members. We haven't set our policies yet, and how we'll do equipment training, sign ups, and haven't set our wall hours yet. We're still a little over a year away from opening, but we'll get the word out on these details as we get closer to opening day. Thanks for asking!

  • When is opening set for? Feb 2010?

  • We should be in there by March 2010.

  • but rumor also has it that they are going to have some kind of new chalk substitute that is supposed to do the job- but idk how it will work.

  • no we wont be able to, bummer i know. apparently the wall is in the gym, and the dust from the chalk (from the idiots that dont know how to climb) can trigger asthmatic problems in some people. so apparently health code says that the only way that you can use chalk in a gym is if its secluded from everything else, which also requires its own ventilation system.

  • We will be using liquid chalk on the rock climbing wall. Standard chalk causes problems with the building ventilation systems. Thanks for your interest!

  • Please let us use chalk on the rock wall! I was at William and Mary where chalk was not allowed on the climbing wall and that got old quick. Thanks.

  • DAMN that does look nice!
