COD 4 sucks in comparison. It has no heft, no flavor and no skill is required to play. Battlefield and Rainbow are the ways to go. As for your question there is no 1994 (unless you mean 1942) so go with BF 2.

bf2 is best ever, best modding community, best gameplay of its time, great players, and no bitchy 10 year old, because bf2 ,and project reality mod especially, takes a mature attitude and great skill.
