"In your reality / I'm making noise,
but that's just fine with me!"
--John Tabacco, "That's Just Fine WIth Me"

For almost 30 years, John Tabacco has been one of the primary icons of the Long Island underground music scene.

Inspired by the likes of Frank Zappa and The Beatles, this veteran producer, engineer, singer/songwriter, humorist, graphic artist, former radio personality at Long Island's legendary WUSB-FM, co-founder of Sound Archeology/SA3 (with noted computer scientist Bob Ball), and founder of It Iz What It Iz Music has done it all, ultimately becoming an inspiration all his own.

Tabacco (who has performed Zappa's music in New York with Ed Palermo as well as in Europe with Frank's sister Candy and his young protege Nigey Lennon) was a part of the original Backdoor Records crew, who was responsible for the hit 1989 singles "Go House Yourself" -- a special project between himself, Nick DiMauro and future Modern Voices Records proprietor Chris Pati, and "Shake You Up" -- the debut Club hit single for the now highly-acclaimed Contemporary singer/songwriter/producer Marci Geller (one-third of the group Lucky 13, and founder of Sonic Underground Records), whose albums he has also engineered.

But when it comes to the music John unleashes, it's a whole different world that takes a life of its own and brings you right in with it, whether you realize it or not upon first listen. No matter the mood, you'll feel it, right down to the core -- whether it's vocal or instrumental, whether he's solo or in collaboration with such greats as Nick & Gian DiMauro, Anthony Pomes, Jim Dexter, Marci Geller or otherwise. You just can't say no to THIS Tabacco.

DLC IndustryWatch has personally witnessed the growth of JT and his sound (along with the sound of the Sonic Underground family of artists and affiliates) since 1998 and we have been supporting and promoting their music ever since, especially on the annual WIBS Internet Webcast from the IBS Radio Convention. If you never knew of John Tabacco before, you know now!
