@MrBlue006 I think that was his literal inspiration, but a work of art can have a literal meaning and many metaphorical layers. I do think it is much informed by nihilistic feelings of insignificance and loneliness. But it is not utterly without hope: he may refer to being quashed like a bug, but he also says he is going to grow wings one day, which I see as a desire to break out of the quagmire of meaninglessness.
