A trip to see the sky lanterns in Pingxi -- truly a unique Taiwan experience.
The music is from a Heavenly Melody album: "Suzanne plays Heavenly Melody" favorites on Erhu (the Chinese erhu is that 2-stringed, violin-like instrument you are hearing) The title of the song is 平安夜裡真平安 (Silent Night, Peaceful Night).

  • This is beautiful. Can I use it for my classroom? I am a Chinese Immersion classroom teacher and my students would love to see this. Thank you.

  • @martychc sure, you can use it. If anyone asks, say the music came from Suzanne Shu and Heavenly Melody

  • omg thise is so so beautiful reminds me of the scean in the movie Tangled when Rapunzel would watch them from her window

  • wow this is beautiful!! I almost want to cry!

  • Watch my video please!

  • When is this festival celebrated ?

  • These flying lanterns are really hot-air balloons, proof positive that the Chinese understood the principle of the hot-air balloon at least a thousand years before the Montgolfier brothers in around 1783.

  • @250Trojan why?

  • OMG LOOK AT ALL THOSE UFOS

  • Im crying this is beautiful

  • @TheLexanatorOfficial A lot of people have been burnt by the wax fuel cell which has fell off and they have caused a lot of fires from the wind blowing them into flammable surfaces. They are beautiful things to see but people do have to be careful. There are some lanterns out there which are a lot safer compared to the originals but just look at it in a logical way, they are flying flames that are unpredictably flying about. Just enjoy them whilst you can.
