Bumps and Bruises (My Song)

I was once asked 'Why don't you ever sing?' This is why... Lots of shots of my big nose, many missed notes. Ok, I'm no singer, as you can hear but there IS a cool Jazz Song within (I'm more proud of that) Billie Holiday would have dug it... Haven't sung live before and rehearsal always puts me off. A vid once seen and heard, never forgotten. So In the spirit of adventure.. Oh, The song is about Domestic Abuse by the way... Sing along... See how tough to sing this song actually is. The words are below :

I don't often write songs about Domestic abuse...
Sorry if it hurt your ears too much.
I do have a cute nose though...
If any of you Musician's out there think 'Hey that's a cool song !!' and want to do a cover it, jazzing it up a bit, please do!! Just ask first and give me a credit (as I wrote the thing). Be warned. It isn't an easy song to do !!

Andy's Review: 20/05/11
I did this to show that I could write a Song. Then sent it to a pal, who did a version, but missed what I was going for. She was ok about it, and suggested I give it a go as it was my tune.
So I had a go....
And I hated doing it...
But the belief in the tune and song made me go through to the end. I knew another take would threaten my doing this. So I posted it, expecting sniggers from some. Looking back at it now, it is quite a brave attempt.
I have only sang once before (On God, are you listening)
I haven't sung since..
The Vid is an improv. I wanted to do something original, but wasn't even sure i would even post it.
It should be sung by someone better than me. The song deserves better.
Odd Vid I know. Good Song though.

Wow Andy, you singing! I love it! No matter you believe me or not I really dig the sultry tone of your voice! it sounds so nice, especially on the lower first part of the song (which is really really cool)! reminds me a bit of Chris Rea...

I have done 81 Vids so I can't expect anyone to watch them all.  But I am very nervous when singing.. (You always look so relaxed) When I make a bad note singing I go OMG and crumble... If i am playing guitar or piano its ok cause i like mistakes.. Singings a whole different scary deal.

Maybe i will try again.. Haven't sung since then. I'm more proud of the song.

You seem like you've been writing songs forever, not just two (haven't seen the other one yet). I can see how challenging this would be to perform but that isn't the impression I got from your performance. You handled this very well. I have to say I like the jazz form. I have never tried a song like that but it's an intriguing structure. It sounds like you didn't enjoy the performance but I think that's partly because it was a new experience for you. Everything gets easier in time.

@songblurred Thanks Don. I had another try but it was awful. I didn't really enjoy it, but no-one else would do it so it was this or nothing. Great to hear the opinion of a songwriter. They aren't easy things to do. I listen to you guys and gals in awe sometimes.

The jazz structure does take it to interesting places. I like experimenting so I may have another kick at it sometime. Thanks for the support, and for listening.

@martimax34 I get soooo nervous. I can't sing it twice. The only reason I did it was because I thought the song was good. I didn't think anyone would do it for me. It was this or nothing...
