I'm kind of new to rifles. I have the factory barrel that came with the 1500. It is heavy, but not as thick as Ive seen on other rifles.

I've gotten a lot better. I can consistently hit a quarter from 200yrds now. And yes, I'm using a bi-pod.

Don't try to compensate so much for your error. Fire at the same point, and then walk the groups in.

What scope and bipod do you have? Have you done anything else from the factory setup? I was thinking of buying a Howa in .308 set up as a sniper type rifle

hay if your buying ammo and not had loading, if i were you i would go at a get some real go ammo like hornady. thats all i shoot for rifle. just a thought there the best factory ammo i now of.

jus fire 1 shot adjust ur scope shoot again - repeat

Try a lot of different ammo. Each gun is ammo specific, even two consecutive serial numbers of the same make and model. Generally, match ammo will be needed for match results, but you still need to try different match ammo to see which your Howa likes the best.

The real solution to the ammo issue is reloading, so you can fine tune your ammo to your rifle, but you can often achieve consistent sub MOA results with a quality bolt action rifle if you're willing to experiment with different ammo.
