Wheat Dosa With Dal Chutney
Is a Indian-style whole Wheat, thin, savory crepe-like Pancake with split chickpea condiment.

Makes:15-20
Cooking Time:20-30 min
Skill: Easy
Chutney can refrigerate for a week


Ingredients for Wheat Dosa:
2 Cups Atta/Wheat Flour
1/2 Cups Rice Flour (for crispiness)
3-4 Tbsp Coconut finely grated (Optional)
it gives some crunch to dosa
About 3 Cups Water
1 Tbsp Oil + oil for making dosas
1/2 Tsp Black Mustard Seeds
1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
Pinch of Hing/Asofedita
Salt to taste



Ingredients for Dal Chutney:
3/4 Cup Chana Dal/Split yellow Cheackpea (soaked for 2-3 hr)
2 Tbsp Lemon Juice (Adj to taste)
2 Tsp Sugar (Adj to taste)
3-4 Green Chillies (Adj to taste)
2-3 Cloves of Garlic (Optional)

  • why did you cover the dosa? the oil should be applied before putting the dosa or after?also the magic bullet is aproduct of which country/dose it run well/requiring minimum maintenance?

    cover dosa to cook... i apply oil after putting... magic bullet is avil. in USA

  • Hi Bhagyaji, Excellent recipe. Can we add some sour curd in the batter for a slightly tangy taste? Do we need to kepp the batter aside for 1 hour?

    Outstanding! You are bringing the highly evolved food technology of South India to the rest of the world, and doing it in style!

    Now here's a challenge for you - You know how we all love ThenKuzhal, Ribbon Pakoda and and other "Karukku Murukku" snacks! Now with all the concerns about fatty foods and simple carbs, why not conjure up baked versions of the same, and using whole wheat too ? Thus far, I have not had any success.

    I wait expectatntly....
