Test shoot Rami katzav.

BEST viewed in 720p resolution
Test shows the difference between the 2 cameras outdoors and underwater in different resolutions.
The shots were made with the cameras handheld side by side, in their original water proof case.
The was no color correction made on the final video.

HERO2 seems to be sharper on shots made outside the water, and more sensitive to light while shooting at night time, also has better color rendition with the new Auto White Balance compared to the constant 5600 kalvin HERO1.

On the NEGATIVE part, surprisingly the HERO2 was LESS sharp Underwater, which means flat lens case mount will be a must to purchase if you want clear solid sharp images underwater.

All the rest of Spec differences you can read on the official GoPro website.

  • what the hell... at 0:32 the hero 1 is better than the hero2 :O

  • out of my opinion the hero2 wins

  • hero 1 win all but fps :/

  • i got both and is better hero 1!

  • First of all Go pro2 stabilizes while it also tries to make it bright and go-pro 1 onlyrecords videos in hq

  • @jourman : you did not intend to do 3D vision, but it is "crossviewing" 3D vision (cf Stereoscopy" page of wikipedia )

The left image is shifted to the right, the right image is shifted to the left.

When your left eye look the right image, and your right eye look the left image, you have a 3D perception if you force the focus of your eyes on the screen, which is difficult. (you have to force convergent strabysm and aply the focus to the screen in the same time)

  • Thanks... Still learning all the settings with my new Hero2 ( HumbleOutdoors w/free 16GB SD card). Videos like yours, shorten my learning curve.

  • i personally think the hero one captures better color

  • @jourman why are you top comment without thumbs up?
