Every June since 1997 Bill and Jan Stevens have hosted the Fort Howes Endurance rides. In 2003 there were about 150 competitors from all over the US (and from Canada and Europe) to this rather remote area -- there are no restaurants, motels, or gas stations within a half hour's drive. The nearest main commercial airport is a two hour drive. The two-day event featured 25, 50, and 100 mile rides. This video shows some of each ride but concentrates on the 100-mile ride. M Kyderman from Canada finished first in the 100 with V Kanavy right behind her. The riding trails wind through beautiful country -- both on private land and on U S Forest Service land. I have other Fort Howes videos on YouTube.
Amazing video!
