Guilty Gear Baldhead Gameplay (Part 1)

Welcome to yet another Lava Buster gameplay bonanza; in this installment, I tackle the first game in the Guilty Gear series, which came out in 1998, and as far as 2D fighters go...this one, while graphically showing its age, is still a fun, though lop-sized experience.

Many of the characters, including May and Chipp, are extremely overpowered (luckily, X and X2 tweaked their stats, while offering more moves, more modes, and tons more replayability), but it's fun to play once in a while.

Instead of choosing Sol Badguy or Ky Kiske (characters suitable for beginners, or people who don't know how to diversify their skills/preferences...you know, people who pick Ken or Ryu when playing Street Fighter, for example), I went with Dr. Baldhead, a lanky, towering ex-medical genius, who is now a serial killer; he carries a six-foot long scalpel, and always has his tongue hanging out like a dog.

Admittedly, Baldhead, much like other Guilty Gear characters, is very entertaining, unique, and rewarding to utilize. He even has a decent backstory, which I will elaborate on in a future part of this run.

I often repeat how Baldhead is powerful, and containing sick range (not to mention being unpredictable), but also how he's a little slow, and sucks up close (ironically, his Mad Operation 'Chaos Move' (i.e. Overdrive Attack, from X and X2) requires him to be up close to pull it off...but it's worth it, if one can pull it off); my apologies for that.

In this video, I talk about some of the mechanics, and I fight through opponents, like Zato-1, Millia Rage, and even Axl Low. So, I hope you enjoy the ride! :)

I never use instant kill on any Guilty Gear games sometimes. Only time I'll use it is when I'm trying to unlock everything for the most. But yeah, it is very cheap lol.

@kjjacky Instant Kills in the first GG game are ultra-cheap and broken beyond belief; at least in X and X2, Instant Kills, they are not only infrequent, but offer more risk in pulling them off (say you fail...you lose your Tension Gauge, and cannot execute your Overdrives or Faultless Defense, or even Roman Cancel). I'd say you did a great job with this playthrough, although I do agree that Millia and Axl (and to a lesser extent, Zato) are both as difficult as hell when fighting against. And I completely agree that Dr.Baldhead is one insane yet frickin awesome at the same time.
