  • that hood is amazing. is it custom made?

  • @gravyrdgrappler Thanks. I painted the Jeep Porsche Indian Red at which time I had the hood graphics painted as well. Coincidentally, the Jeep was in the body shop as 9/11 happened, prompting my inspiration.

  • Hey luisp413 could you tell me all that was need to perform this swap i have a 1980 cj7 with a 4cyl im looking to do this to your help would be greatly appreciated .

  • @ceclark91 , (1of2)If your CJ has the T176 tranny, then the following applies. Ford small block, Ford truck bellhousing or from a V8 car from 70's or early 80's. Flywheel and starter from Ford truck or older V8 car. Chevy 11' clutch disc, Ford pressure plate. Ford throwout fork and throwout bearing, truck again. In hindsight I would've used a hydraulic throwout bearing. I used the stock shortened Ford truck throwout fork, activated by a 4 cyl mazda pick up slave cyl mounted on custom bracket.

  • @ceclark91 (2of2) A Novak engineering pilot bearing for this swap was used along with shortening the tranny input shaft, Specs available on Novak's website. Mountain Off Road motor mounts for Ford V8 and Flexalite 210 elec fan mated to a stock V8 CJ radiator. The rad hoses I picked up at Autozone after I bent some wire hanger as a reference. I used shorty block hugger headers and a custom dual exhaust. It's a straight forward swap after I did all my research. Hope this helped. Good Luck.

  • WOW very impresive combination!

  • Thank you. Paint is actually 10 yrs old. Hood is painted, no decals there. I offroad Jeep and plating offers cheap protection. No matter how much I try, corners suffer. Easier replacing diamond plate than sheetmetal. Not rot under there, all clean metal.

  • Looks good except for all that diamond plate. Looks like new paint job (based on the hood decal)? If you did that why not fix the rust and rot?

  • Thank you for your kind words. It was a lot of research that enabled me to basically let everything fall into place. This is the 3rd time I redo the Jeep. Let's see how long she lasts like this.
