My experience and perspective on accents among deaf and hearing people, given to an interpreting student who asked for responses. My response, in short, is that deaf people have various accents (there is not one deaf accent) and hearing signers have their own various accents as well. Personally, I love listening to hearing people from other countries who speak English clearly and grammatically but retain the flavor and beauty of their homeland accents. I have no desire to eradicate my hearing accent. I'm hearing, that's who I am, and I am true to myself. The important thing to me is that I respect the grammar of signed English and American Sign Language and that I am clear. As long as most* deaf people understand me, I am happy.
