B sides Dad Song

This started life as a song I wrote for my dad's 50th birthday. Back then it was just the first four verses, about how I feel about the most influential man in my life. Later I wrote another four verses about how I feel about our Father in Heaven and it seemed to fit so I got down to recording! Funnily enough, it's a serious song, but it's written in Limerick! Also, it rips of Piano Man musically. But no one seems to notice... :P

My experiment for this song: I tried to simulate a "steel drum" by recording notes on the "vibraphone" setting on mum's electric piano, which I always thought could pass as a steel drum with some meticulous cutting and editing, but much work later I only had a 4-measure intro that didn't even sound that great so I turned the volume pretty low on it and had it play a much more minor part in the song than I hoped/imagined. It comes back in once in the 3rd verse I think, very quietly. I was planning to have it playing for about half the song but it was better in the end to just give in to the cliché for the genre and just use the rock organ and string section synths. :(
