Show me how liberals were NOT behind democracy and freedom? Those are LIBERAL principles! Now, Democrats and Republicans are both scumbags, so don't use them as analogies. Jefferson, Franklin, and the rest were hardcore liberals. If they weren't, they'd have been conservative and supported King George.

Again, a very specious argument. The founding fathers were "liberal" as compared to the "traditionalists", but they were not modern-day limousine liberals. The democratic party is bereft of ideas and beholden to radicals who believe in income redistribution, socialized medicine, big government, speech legislation, draconian regulations... The FF's venerated free speech, individual initiative, limited government, and individual rights - all of which modern-day democrats despise.
