The Ice Palace is quite a tough dungeon to deal with. Always buy blue potions for each dungeon because if you go in without any, you might die here.

My thoughts on Level 5: Ice Palace

1F: You cannot defeat any of the ice monsters without the fire rod so you better have magic power. There is not much here except a key that leads to B1 and one of those four jellyfish monsters are holding it.

B1: Nothing really but endless jellyfish monsters, Gels that made a rare appearance from the NES game, green monsters that belly slide on the ice and anti-fairies. I tap my sword on the room to identify the location of the Big Key. You need to head down to B3F to get it.

B2: Skeleton Knights, also known as Stalfos from OoT and MM, can only be stunned by the sword and can be permanently destroyed by bombs. There are black geckos and spiked areas in this place so be careful. The Big Key is here (7:25) and you will find the compass at 1:09. The Dungeon Map can be found here and is obtained at 7:17.

B3: B3F can be confusing sometimes because when you need to activate a crystal switch, there isn't one close by.

B4: This can be a major pain in the neck if you don't know where to go because B4F is like a freaking maze. It gets much harder to walk normally on ice and go down the stairs as well.

B5: Overexerting magic can be the worst thing Link can do. The key in B5F in the room with the one anti-fairy and the flaming spheres holds a key that you can use in B6F that will allow you to have access to a switch. The Blue Mail can make Link reduce damage when he gets hit. (See the next part of Level 5 to know where you get it)

B6: This are can be super tricky if you don't have a key to active the switch here so you can remove the huge block in the square room with the ice monster in B5F. This is required to gain access to
B6F and B7F.

B7: Pwnage moment - Kholdstare
The cape owns, no question. Use the fire rod to melt the huge block of ice that Kholdstare is encased in and when he splits into three, dish out the cape and he gets owned. If you are confident about your dodging skills, then you shouldn't use the cape.
