Don't know much about her, was looking at Dali Books in the Book shop when I came across her stuff - might buy one of her books too much "Dali" is not good for you - can make you too much into your own thoughts/mind/imagination!!!!! Sometimes Art should just be about looking at something and it making you feel warm and happy instead of having a big intellectual conversation with Sigmund Freud!!!!!

Cassatt wanted to paint other subjects, but during the time which she lived, women artists were rejected and their works, if received by the public, had to depict family settings.  Hence, women and children became her subjects, but she did want to paint other subjects as well. Nevertheless, her paintings are beautiful and Degas certainly did help her realize her potential.
