Moral of the story: play like a stick and cock block all the good squares. And that's why nobody plays with you anymore.

Right. I'm just saying by the title, that's not what you are saying. Of course you should usually maximize your long-term score. "Usually" because when a risk is needed for a win should, you take the chance on an unlikely outcome, because winning is much more important than the spread (in Scrabble tournaments...again, "usually").

I've been fascinated by the mere existence of something like game theory (just haven't looked very deep into it). This is the strategy I've come to use for Words with Friends as well as Scrabble thinking it was just the logic everyone uses (and maybe it is). Sweet.

I agree with the strategy but THINNER was way better because you have a way better chance of having a good rack than "her" and there are a lot of other hotspots on the board like off of DAZE (especially if he had a d as his last letter) and the t and the n for a lot of points maybe, too. Who knows, maybe he would've picked up "foils" too and played JETFOILS for a crazy amount, too. DOVE was awful though, haha.

i think the guy you were playing against was just playing for fun, or he had just downloaded the game. he obviously wasn't a "game theorist". i usually try to keep my opponent away from the triple words though. it's a pretty simple strategy.
This should be called GAME THEORY: How to Get a Few More Views by Mis-Titling Your Game Theory Video!
You do suggest maximizing your score. I think you meant "turn score" in the title, rather than implying total game score.

@davidme123 It works for total game score too. Winning 350-300 is much better than losing 500-400.
