Bill of Lading Until you move, you probably didnt even know that lading was a word. But, the bill of lading, which can also be called the lading bill, BOL, B/L, waybill, or receipt, is an integral part of the moving process. It serves as a binding contract between the customer and the moving company. Whether youre moving locally, long distance, or internationally, your mover will provide you with a bill of lading. This document will contain all the important information regarding your move; the locations of the origin and destination, a description of the truck or vessel your goods will be transported on, and a list of items contained in the shipment. The bill of lading will also show the cost of the move and detail the method of payment. Since the bill of lading outlines the most important aspects of the move, youll want to carefully read through it before signing.
