I wonder where my easy rider's gone -- Carol Leigh & Climax Jazz Band 1976
Our Climax Jazz Band opened for a long run at the new Hydro Building on College and University in a brandnew club called DJ's. 6 nights a week with a policy of special guests. One of our favourite guests was jazz singer Carol Leigh from Connecticut. We had met her at the 1975 Championship of Jazz where she performed with the Salty Dogs. In 1976 she was part of a pilotshow where she would sing a few tunes with our band on the Peter Appleyard TV show. These jazz shows became a great success and about 75 different ones were done over a period of three years.
We became good friends and during her two week engagement at the club in Toronto I taped a number of tunes. Of course not on video. I don't want to do without any film, but just to give you an idea how she looked I added a few (out of sinc of course) clippings from the TV show. In this tune you can hear Carol's beautiful approach to the style of the jazz singers from the twenties and thirties. This "I wonder where my easy rider's gone" could have originated from a recording from Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey in 1933 with the vocal presentation by comedienne Mae West
Great performance by this Toronto band with Carol..Thanks for posting.

This is "Yellow Dog Blues" (or "rag") by W. C. Handy, not "Easy Rider" by Shelton Brooks.
