These two wells, side by side, were drilled less than two years ago, but for some reason a workover rig is required every two weeks to a month since.
On April 7, 2011 the pipe/tubing was removed and replaced at this site. Now it's being done again. If this is normal operations, it is far from the "temporary nuisance" the industry would like to claim. This video was taken from my back porch today.
I wonder all of the questions a potential homebuyer would have asked me if they came to our home today? That is, if they made it past opening our gate 30 feet from this operation. Maybe I should install an automatic gate opener so at least they don't have to get out of their car?
And when they asked what the noise is coming from the other side of our property just beyond the trees, I could tell them, that's just a nitrogen lift unit getting ready to vent flowback. The TCEQ air sample results show this isn't good stuff, but the operator won't tell you when they're going to vent the bad stuff. You'll have to monitor that yourself by climbing through fences daily to see if the hatch on the frac tank is propped open yet.
When that happens you will know to keep your kids inside. If they start feeling really bad after playing outside, you might have missed it.
When they ask what the constant humming sound is while enjoying the view from the front porch of the pad, condensate and flowback tanks parked next to the lovely pond they put drilling water back into, I'll just say "Oh that, that's a compressor. That will always be there."
