polyphony are great, the only thing that I dont like much about them, it their whitacre recordings, too few people for eric's works

It's hard to beat the LAMC, since Lauridsen wrote so much for THEM. One thing I have discovered in listening to LAMC recordings tend to be heavy on all his music, whereas other groups like Dale Warland Singers and the Robert Shaw Festival Singers, tend to take it lighter and more melodic. It really is a subjective viewpoint of the listener.

Both are exquisite - it's hard to go wrong with Lauridsen. Personally, I feel this version has a lighter touch than the LA Master Chorale - just a personal preference. Both versions should be required listening!

@annointednsong i must kindly disagree. the Los Angeles Master Chorale in my opinion performed this much better than this version. The tempo is too fast for my liking and there are phrasing/shaping choices that i dont like. Not as sensitive to the text as the la master chorale version. but again, just my opinion.
