  • This is the only real man for the job. Finally. A streight shooter.

  • Seekster, it took me 5 minutes to determine that you're just dealing with a bad case of cognitive dissonance if you can't see that Thompson has voted against the interests of US high tech workers. He talks tough on illegal South American migration but then he refuses to protect American high tech jobs. What a two-faced jingo.

  • In the 2000 Republican presidential primaries, Thompson initially backed former Tennessee Gov. Lamar Alexander, who eventually succeeded Thompson in the Senate, two years later. When Alexander dropped out of the presidential race, Thompson endorsed Senator John McCain's bid and became his national co-chairman.[48] Both McCain and Thompson were contenders to be George W. Bush's running mate in 2000.[49][50]

  • As a "high tech" engineer working for a Fortune 100 company, I can tell you that the tech companies ACTIVELY deny US jobs to justify the H1B visa increases. They hire consultants to teach them how to advertise for jobs and then claim they can't find US workers. When Thompson was in Congress, there was plenty of evidence presented to him that the labor shortage was a myth. I know I started training whole crews of Indians to take my job after that bill was passed.

  • Im not seeing anything in the bill that mentions high tech workers. Only skilled workers. I dont agree with outsourcing but I really dont agree with Amnesty.

  • Grunt im reading the Bills you are mentioning and they have little to do with what you claim they do. I mean at least try to spin things better if you are going to spin. It took me about five minutes of digging on the U.S. Senate webpage to prove every last ony of your comments false.

  • Sen. Thompson voted to grant legal status to Nicaraguans and Cubans who had lived in the United States illegally since 1995, along with their spouses and minor unmarried children. The ten year impact of this legislation will be the addition of 967,000 people to U.S. population. There was no separate vote on the amnesty, as it was included in the DC Appropriations bill.
