  • All of you armchair martial artists make me sick. Once you've got anonymity on your side you're suddenly highly critical experts without an ounce of humility between you.

It is what it is. Maybe it's MEANT to be a "movie" demo kata...and maybe he's not the perfect swordsman, and is on a learning path together with ALL martial artists.

The know-it-alls fail a fundamental, and perhaps the easiest aspect of martial arts; respect.

  • A man of Honor, jl5000!

For some of us respect is not so easy.

  • is it just me or is that sword jingling?, i hear what looks like metal contact, but obviouslty there is nothing there for him to hit, so is his blade loose or sumthin?

and using the mirror finish to look behind you? wtf is that sum naruto shit?

  • Naruto shit?!!!! No, survival secrets revealed.

    The sword is solid.

  • awsum! umm running your arm down the blade, representing wipeing off blood? Oo

  • Yup. Also, during the first and second wipes, the mirror surface of the blade is used to scan the areas out of sight.

First behind, then the left rear quarter.

  • Do you have a traditional katana Kata??? If so, i would love to see it. I'm one of those young (14) martial artist that's still a little low on the ranks (green, two away from black, for me), and I like the traditional styles, not fancy kind of forms. Sense my style (kempo) doesn't have kenjetsu, I'm trying to write a kata for it. I'd love some advice, tips, and videos for me to take notes from. Thank you very much.

  • Great! I got my first bokken a few weeks ago and am looking for videos of katas in the first instance to get an idea of how to draw and move with it. I found this clip exciting.

  • I want to learn how to do this! And I'm obviously no expert but nice form!

  • @tonerlfc all a kata is, is pretty untile you desipher the true movements of battle hidden in the pretty form.

  • side note naruto shit can be pretty dam effective. lol

  • why all so critical, he's just doing a sword form is that really such cause to get boiled over. lol peace.

  • Mr. Barajas! He is a good teacher. :)

  • Oriental swordsmanship is not my area of expertise, I apologize for the general title as I know little to nothing about the swordsmanship there as I study European, but even a basic florysh, not saying this specific form is basic, makes it very beautiful to watch and shows it is very much a practical deadly art with every movement. Ja Wohl!

  • i have practiced Kenjutsu bfore and am a 1st dan in jujitsu. i was just wondering that this style of kata, while looking very pretty, is not practical and in the spirit of the samurai, how could any of this be practical while in armour on a battlefield

  • One of the best forms...I'm in the kempo so I choosed the katana at weapon katas. At my first competition this video was a great help (sorry, but i had to use some of your moves to create my own) but it was worth for my gold medal...so thanks

And men...if you say it isn't japanese, not the way of the bushi...yes it is Times are changing, you don't have to do the same as the masters did 200 years ago. Martial arts have evolution too,but don't let it go useless, when you try to make it attractive
