I set out in the assignment to show the effect that one person can have on themselves, others and the world around them. I chose to mash various Flashmob Dances. A Flashmob is when a number of people come together in a public place and perform a song / dance or other artistic performances unbeknownst to the general public and in most cases, the authorities. This epitomises the idea of one person having an effect on their environment even though it is all staged. The addition of the fact that nearly all footage of flashmobs has an 'amatuer' feel to the cinematographic style. I used a remake of Michael Jackson's Thriller to as audio, however it is not background audio by any means. I made the deliberate choice to use music video style editing, due to the nature of the footage that I was working with.
What I wanted to show with this Video is that one person can have an amazing idea but you always need other people to help you turn it to reality. You can never do it all (well) by yourself. This is something that I have learned through my own experience running my monthly nightclub and through my other commercial projects.
