@SirJamestheIII Agree !! Greg Howe is my favourite guitarist too, by a long, long way. And for those of you who havent heard "Stringed Sanity" by Greg Howe yet, I envy you, because I wish I could hear it for the first time all over again. Technique, soul, groove, feel, phrasing, speed, its all there............Go enjoy !

That is correct! Notice it's a seven string guitar, with B as the lowest string.

Dude, just amazing at the guitar solo.
From what I've seen of it, i reckons it's JP's toughtests solos and maybe one of the best ever :P.

Thank you mate! JP has a lot of tough solos, but everyone can nail them if they practise ;) In my opinion, the Train of Thought album has a lot of difficult things, so I would say something there ;)

In the solo in As I Am, I can sorta of hear in this one, I am by no means a musician, but I understand what ti takes :D.
Very true about Practise, but it takes even more to wrote something like that :3.?

I think Petrucci takes a day in the studio to record one solo, and I think he writes it at the same day. It really helps to have a good technique, it makes things much easier to play. I don't think he spent a lot of time creating that solo. You should check out a guitarist named Greg Howe, and his album introspection. Those things are way more advanced (and in my opinion, more cool) than Petruccis solos :)
