With tap water, there's on average one test sample for every 67 million gallons. With bottled water, on average, there one sample test for every 1.8 million gallons. That's a ratio of 36:1. It means there are 36 samples of bottled water for every gallon of trap water tested! The post below is confusing. How can PET plastic "breakdown" in a short truck ride but still last forever in a landfill? It simply can't do BOTH! Thank goodness the recycle rate is 30.1% and climbing.

Hellloo!! FDA does not have anywhere near the strict regulations tap water has. Are you being paid as an advocate for the bottled water industry or something? One thing is for sure, and you cannot dispute this: The plastic bottled water comes in breaks down into the water either from being heated (like when its transported on trucks) or from reusing it which in turn cause serious health risks, like cancer. 90% of bottled water is not recycled, and plastic NEVER goes away! Learn the facts please!

Some city water is put in a great big tank. How do you think they keep it from growing stuff in it???

why don't you just fill up a bottle with tap water? waste of money if you ask me, and regarding convenience, if i'm out i'd rather get a coke or something. man i never understood why the hell anyone would pay that much for water.

ZERO deaths blamed on bottled water... a pretty telling factoid!

you may want to learn a little about bisphenol A
Hey Spamdango -- there's no BPA in PET plastic. You may want to bone-up on your chemistry before fear-mongering about plastics.
