Happy New Year, everyone!

Today, I am talking about Japanese version of 干支[ETO]ORIGINAL ETO means Chinese zodiac /zodiac signs in Chinese astrology/Oriental zodiac.... 実は英語では色んな言い方があります。
(^0^); 今日の日本でいう干支は、本来の意味の干支ではなく、単に「十二支」のことなので、英語では、the twelve zodiac signsでいいみたいです。

もともと中国で使われていた干支(eto)とは、十干(jikkan)と十二支(jyuunishi)の組み合わせ(60種類)を言います。これを十干十二支(jikka­njyuunishi)と言い、略して「干支」となりました。

十干(jikkan)=甲(きのえ)・乙(きのと)・丙(ひのえ)・丁(ひのと)・戊(つちのえ)・己(つちのと)・庚(かのえ) ・辛(かのと)・壬(みずのえ)・癸(みずのと)
十二支(jyuunishi)=子(ね・ねずみ)・丑(うし)・寅(とら)・卯(う・うさぎ)・辰(たつ)・巳(み・へび)・午(うま)・未(ひつじ)・申(さる)・酉(­とり)・戌(いぬ)・亥(い・いのしし)・・・注意:中国で使われていた時は、イノシシではなくブタでした。

But, anyway we Japanese call ETO for JYUUNISHI

このビデオの中で話した出来事の他に、この十二支選抜レース(?lol)では、トリが、仲の悪いサルとイヌを並ばせない為に、間に入ってゴールした、とか、13番目にゴー­ルしたイタチの為に、神様が毎月1日目を「ついたち」という呼び方にしてあげた、などの面白いお話もありますよ! I'll translate this in English later. ^0^

そうそう、これらの動物たちを干支/十二支として「英語で」表記する際には、頭文字を「大文字」にしなくてはいけないみたいです。

毎回、動画を作るたびに内容に間違いがないようにといろいろ調べたりして、私自身にとってもすごく良い勉強になっています!何しろ、「日本の文化」と言っても、日本人でも­正確な事がよく分からない、って事がよくありますからね。^0^
