SimplexGrinnell's NICET certified electronic fire alarm inspector performs an elevator recall test according to NFPA 72 standards. The purpose of testing the elevator recall function of the fire alarm system is to ensure that the elevator is going to move to the exit floor of the building in the event of a fire. This is done by testing a smoke head as normal and the elevator recall is verified by ensuring that the elevator drops to the exit floor. According to NFPA 72 code, an elevator recall test should be done on an annual basis.
