Building the Jimmy Jib Lite

Building the Jimmy Jib Lite prior to the NIU Jazz Band concert on 4/9/09. Actual build time is about 40 minutes. Length of jib is 18' with full remote control. Bonus points to anyone who can spot the mistake I made (but corrected). NEW! Annotations added 8/10. Mistake revealed!

I know the answer to the bonus ? you started leveling the camera in the pan and tilt head before connecting the cables

Wrong! I was checking to make sure the camera could rotate as I added cables before adding more.

@imdiaz The early balance was just to see if I could remove the bracing. Final balance is of course with the cables off the ground as the video shows. Cable slack was pulled up after the final balance as the "in action" video at the end shows, although there is a little too much at the front.

try using short bungee cords to keep cables close to the arm, it looks nice plus helps keep cables from getting caught on something.

very nice that you actually tapped the procedure of building the Jib, the cables should be kept tight against the arm so it doesn't get caught on something while swinging try using short bunge cords. when I build a jib I do the camera very last, from what I see you balanced the camera while the cables were laying on the ground.
